Building the Brand, Brick by Brick

When drawing up concepts for the brand identity of Rock the Block, I desperately wanted the symbol to distinctly represent Alexandria, VA. I tried many options, including the outline of a particular street intersection I drove through every day on my way to work to a few key historical landmarks tourists frequently visit.

 
 

It wasn’t until I looked down while walking to lunch that I found the perfect inspiration, the red brick sidewalks that cover most of ALX.

 
 

 Promoting via social media and printed material was crucial in spreading word of the event.

Day of signage included: Coasters, flags, wayfinding signs, table decorations, maps, and sponsor signs.
